Job Duties
- Demonstrates ability throughout shift to successfully work AM tray line, cafeteria, salad, dessert, PM tray line/cafeteria
- prepares food for patient tray line, cafeteria and special functions
- works at hot line, salad or baking areas
- works at a rate consistent with other cooks
- completes assignments accurately and timely
- meets food production requirements for patients, staff and physicians
- properly covers, labels and stores leftover products
- uses first-in, first-out system for product rotation
- ensures proper supply of product for cafeteria/patient meal service
- demonstrates accurate food preparation for modified diets
- accurately orders and reports produce received in poor condition
- demonstrates creativity with garnishes
- portions and plates desserts in compliance with portion control guidelines
- maintains knives and utensils safely and sanitarily
- minimizes waste and utilizes leftovers effectively
- monitors food quality including serving temperatures, appearance and palatability
- ensures food is ready and set up prior to meal times
- monitors portion controls
- ensures proper use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals
- demonstrates good leadership skills
- ensures effective sanitation, personal hygiene and infection control
- maintains clean and organized production areas
- follows cleaning schedules and cleans spills immediately
- checks in with supervisor for assignment at shift start
- follows supervisor's instructions
- practices professional relations with patients, guests, and coworkers
- notifies supervisor of problems
- attends mandatory department meetings and educational in-services
- prepares specially ordered food timely
- assists on patient tray line and cafeteria as requested
- ensures food carts are clean prior to use
- performs other related functions as assigned
