This role for a Cook position within The Ritz-Carlton team is vital in maintaining the high quality and standards that define the brand. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, washing, and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure readiness for daily service. You will accurately weigh, measure, and mix ingredients following recipes and quality standards, and prepare and cook food items adhering to presentation and food safety checklists. The role requires expertise in operating cooking equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, as well as testing foods to ensure proper cooking levels and food quality.
Beyond food preparation, you will establish and maintain a clean and sanitary workstation by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, utensils, knives, and equipment. Proper portioning and serving of dishes will be essential, ensuring that all food is served attractively and in accordance with quality expectations. Monitoring temperatures of appliances and food to guarantee food safety is a crucial part of this role. The position demands adherence to all company safety and security policies, including reporting maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to supervisors, completing necessary safety training, and maintaining a professional appearance.
This role is dynamic and requires physical stamina, including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and performing physical tasks such as bending, twisting, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Teamwork and communication are highly emphasized; you are expected to collaborate effectively with others, address employee concerns appropriately, and support common team goals. Confidentiality and protection of proprietary company information and assets are integral to maintaining the company's standards.
