In this role, you will be an integral part of the hotel's culinary team, tasked with preparing food of consistent high quality and assisting in various kitchen functions to support seamless operation. This position requires adherence to recipe cards, production standards, and portion control to ensure that all dishes meet the hotel's elite standards. You will be responsible for prepping food items ahead of time in appropriate quantities to avoid waste, maintaining food safety by properly labeling and storing perishables, and monitoring inventory and stock levels for efficient kitchen management. The role also involves operating, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, broilers, stoves, and mixers to support daily food preparation. The ideal candidate will have experience in the hospitality industry, possess effective communication skills, and demonstrate physical ability to perform demanding kitchen tasks. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation environment preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities such as lifting and carrying heavy items
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Must comply with attendance and punctuality standards
Job Qualifications
- Hotel experience preferred
- Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 pounds on a continuous schedule with or without reasonable accommodation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences such as supervisors, coworkers, and the public
Job Duties
- Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers
- Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs
- Date all food containers and rotate as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
- Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
- Assist in keeping buffet stocked
- Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover and date all perishables
- Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards
- Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
