The position available is a Full-Time, Non-Management Food and Beverage role within the culinary department, specifically designed to uphold the culinary excellence expected at The Ritz-Carlton. The role focuses on preparing, monitoring, and ensuring the quality and presentation of food items served within the fine dining setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring food preparation, controlling portion sizes, and ensuring that every plate is garnished and arranged to meet rigorous quality standards. Duties include preparing various types of cuts of meat, operating kitchen appliances such as ovens, grills, and fryers, and preparing sauces, stocks, soups, and cold dishes. Monitoring kitchen stock and freezer storage is also key to maintaining efficient kitchen operations. This role demands physical stamina as it involves standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, as well as tasks requiring bending, lifting, and carrying.

Beyond technical skills, this position requires strong communication abilities to interact with service staff regarding menu changes and to engage courteously with guests, embodying the service ethos of The Ritz-Carlton. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a food preparation role
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • availability to work full time
  • adherence to company policies and standards
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment safely

Job Qualifications

  • Technical, trade, or vocational school degree preferred
  • 4 to 6 years of related work experience preferred
  • no supervisory experience required
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared
  • ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
  • inform service staff of 86'ed items and menu specials
  • pull food from freezer storage to thaw
  • prepare various cuts of meat
  • operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers
  • prepare sauces, stock, soups, and cold food
  • check temperature of appliances and food
  • monitor stock of kitchen supplies
  • follow safety and security policies
  • report maintenance needs and unsafe conditions
  • complete safety training
