Hotel Eleo at the University of Florida is one of the premier properties within the Pyramid Hotel Group, featuring 173 guest rooms, 1,200 square feet of meeting space, and a signature restaurant and bar that serves three meals daily. Known for its contemporary flair and exceptional service, Hotel Eleo represents an exciting opportunity for hospitality professionals seeking to join a dynamic team in the Gainesville area. The hotel embraces Pyramid Hotel Group’s CARE culture, which emphasizes collaboration, accountability, respect, and empowerment.
The Culinary Cook position at Hotel Eleo is ideal for someone passionate about the culinary arts and eager to grow their skills in a professional kitchen environment. Working closely with the culinary leadership team, the cook will help produce and prepare food items for a variety of settings including kitchen preparation, cafeteria service, banquets, dining room, and fine dining experiences. The role requires creativity, motivation, and a strong desire to learn and develop culinary talent. This position offers the unique chance to gain experience using various cooking methods such as grilling, sautéing, and frying, while contributing to menu creation that reflects seasonal ingredients and the restaurant's concept.
In this role, the cook will maintain high standards of food preparation and production, ensuring consistency and quality across all food items. Responsibilities include preparing ingredients by chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting meat, setting up workstations with necessary ingredients and equipment, and maintaining a sanitized, orderly kitchen environment. The cook will learn to minimize food waste through cross-utilization practices and ensure proper storage of all food items to uphold quality standards. This position also involves a passive leadership role in supporting kitchen staff to meet production levels efficiently.
Candidates for this role must possess or be willing to obtain an active food handler’s certification and demonstrate strong organizational skills. Flexibility to work various day, night, and weekend shifts is essential, as well as physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. The ideal candidate is at least 21 years old, has an energetic personality, and a genuine desire to exceed expectations.
Compensation for this position starts at $18 per hour, and the actual salary may vary depending on an individual’s experience, certifications, and location-specific factors. Pyramid Global Hospitality is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all employees. By joining the Pyramid Hotel Group team at Hotel Eleo, culinary professionals can look forward to a rewarding career path supported by industry-leading training, development programs, and employee benefits that underscore the company’s commitment to its people.
