This particular opportunity is within an Assisted Living kitchen environment, catering to the nutritional needs of residents in a Pioneer Home setting. The establishment operates an industrial kitchen that supports a critical community service by providing balanced, nutritious meals following strict health department and nutritional guidelines.
The Cook position is a key role within this environment, responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of meals tailored to meet residents’ dietary and health needs. The position is full-time and on-site, emphasizing hands-on culinary skills alongside supervisory responsibilities. The role involves collaborating closely with supervisors and food service team members to ensure meal plans are executed precisely and safely. The Cook ensures compliance with both internal Nutritional Services standards and external Health Department regulations, including rigorous food safety practices like HACCP.
This role requires an individual who excelled within a demanding food service environment, particularly in settings focused on elder care and assisted living. The Cook is accountable for managing all aspects of food production, from completing production sheets and inventory checks to maintaining high standards of hygiene and sanitation across all food preparation areas. Additionally, training and oversight of other food service workers is a fundamental duty, ensuring all team members follow proper procedures and maintain quality control.
In terms of physical demands, this position requires a dedication to safety and the ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for prolonged periods, and maneuvering within the kitchen space while maintaining high productivity. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English and comply with health requirements including specific immunizations like TB clearance.
This opportunity also upholds the values critical to the NMS organization: safety, honesty, integrity, respect, commitment, and environmental stewardship.
