The Food Unit Lead position at the Alaska Airlines Training Center in Renton, WA, offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities, with a pay range of $23.00 to $25.00 per hour. This role is essential in ensuring the preparation and service of high-quality food that meets federal, state, and corporate standards. The Food Unit Lead is responsible for managing food production tasks, including cold and hot food preparation, ensuring proper portion control, and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. Candidates with experience in catering and customer service will find this role rewarding as it involves both food preparation and customer interaction.

This position requires the incumbent to not only prepare food according to standardized recipes but also to ensure that all meals served are attractive, tasty, and meet temperature requirements. The Food Unit Lead is charged with using correct portioning methods, adhering to safety protocols, and complying with HACCP standards for food handling and presentation. Additional responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining kitchen areas and equipment, monitoring inventory and storage conditions, assisting with food and supply ordering, and keeping accurate service records. The role demands a hands-on leader who fosters collaboration with coworkers, supervisors, and customers while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Job Requirements

  • Experience with catering, customer service, cold food and hot food preparation required
  • Ability to work full-time or part-time schedules including weekends
  • Commitment to safety protocols including the use of protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Successful completion of any required background screening
  • Eligibility to work at the specified location

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with catering and customer service
  • Knowledge of cold and hot food preparation
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and food safety procedures
