The Cook position at Forefront Healthcare is based in an upscale retirement community located in Columbus, Georgia. This role demands a culinary professional who is experienced in food preparation within healthcare or similar settings. The Cook is responsible for preparing meals according to established recipes, portioning guidelines, and food safety regulations, ensuring meal quality and patient safety. Additionally, the Cook supports meal preparation for patients, their families, and employees, assisting in meal delivery and order management as needed. Job Requirements

  • ability to read, write and speak English

Job Qualifications

  • minimum one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred
  • two years working in food and beverage operation preferred
  • knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
  • ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments
  • patient and tolerant toward staff, patients, and family members
  • ability to work flexible hours
  • high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets preferred

Job Duties

  • prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
  • follow standardized recipes, portioning, and menu presentation standards
  • complete daily production worksheets and waste logs
  • taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • monitor temperature of hot and cold foods
  • check and inspect food products and supplies in the absence of the Director of Culinary
  • supervise and assist in storage of supplies and food products
  • notify Director of Culinary of food, supplies or equipment needs
  • report equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions
  • comply with health and sanitation regulations and procedures
  • perform other department duties as assigned
