The current opening is for a full-time Cook position located at SBU Roth Cook, 300 Circle Road, Stony Brook, NY 11794. This role is essential for supporting the preparation of food according to federal, state, and corporate standards to provide high-quality meals. Working schedules vary and may include weekends, nights, and holidays with further specifics shared during the interview process. The pay rate is fixed at $17.50 per hour, and there is a willingness to train candidates who may not have prior cooking experience but are eager to learn and grow within the culinary field. The Cook will be responsible for preparing foods that meet health and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for guests. Job Duties
- Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
- Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
- Tastes all prepared food items
- Uses established ticket collection procedures during service
- Responsible for records from area worked during service periods
- Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
