The Cook role at Watercrest Senior Living is a full-time position situated within the Culinary team focused on providing a superior dining experience to residents, associates, and guests. This role is vital in bringing to life the Watercrest Culinary Experience by preparing and serving a variety of quality and fine dining meals that delight the senses and meet nutritional guidelines and prescribed resident diets. Beyond cooking, the position requires a servant leadership mindset to guide decision-making processes and promote a respectful, warm, and engaging dining atmosphere. The Cook will be responsible for meal preparation, service, and clean-up utilizing proper culinary techniques, including safe use of cooking appliances and understanding nutritional and regulatory requirements.

The role also includes responsibilities for maintaining kitchen safety, sanitation, and cleanliness, ensuring that food service areas remain organized and dishware and utensils are properly stored. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years experience in professional food service
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred
  • Ability to work rotating weekends
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight

Job Duties

  • Conduct meal preparation service and clean-up in accordance with nutritional guidelines regulations and prescribed resident diets
  • Utilize proper use of all cooking appliances
  • Assist with maintaining emergency food supplies
  • Communicate with all culinary vendors
  • Ensure presence in the dining room for resident satisfaction
  • Assist in providing adaptive equipment for residents when necessary
  • Ensure food service is presented in an attractive gracious and timely manner
  • Ensure dishes cooking utensils and pots and pans are stored properly
  • Perform pre-preparation for meals later in the day week or weekend or for special events
  • Report to the Executive Chef any equipment and supplies that are needed
  • Provide a high level of culinary customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere
  • Maintain a safe sanitary clean and organized cooking area
  • Wear company uniform and remain resident ready at all times
