With a workforce of over 31,000 professional food service team members, 1,600 registered dietitians, and 1,200 executive chefs, Morrison Healthcare brings extensive culinary, nutritional, and operational expertise to its clients. Recognized consistently as one of Modern Healthcare's Best Places to Work since 2012, Morrison Healthcare embodies a culture of purpose, innovation, and commitment to quality service.
The company is currently hiring full-time Cook positions at UF Health Shands located at 1505 Southwest Archer Road, Gainesville, FL. This role is vital in ensuring that high-quality food service is delivered consistently to meet both patient and healthcare staff needs within a hospital environment. As a Cook at Morrison Healthcare, you will prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, following established guidelines and procedures. The position demands strict attention to food safety and quality standards, including compliance with HACCP regulations. Vacation is not specifically detailed but the role offers competitive pay at $15.00 per hour.
In this role, cooks are responsible for preparing food items from standardized recipes, ensuring proper portion control, maintaining food at the correct temperatures, and presenting dishes attractively and tastefully. Responsibilities also include tasting all prepared food items, adhering to correct ticket collection procedures, and maintaining cleanliness in all kitchen areas after food preparation and service. The cook will also handle proper food storage, discard excess food safely, and maintain organized refrigerators and storerooms. Operating kitchen equipment and assisting in production planning, ordering, and record-keeping are essential functions of the position.
Safety is paramount in this role, and candidates must use proper personal protective equipment such as medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives or slicers, and oven mitts or fryer gloves when managing hot pans or equipment. Additionally, wearing slip-resistant shoes and employing correct lifting techniques are mandatory to maintain a safe work environment. The company promotes a personal commitment to safety as a core value.
Work schedules are full-time, with shifts operating Monday through Sunday; exact hours may vary and will be detailed further during the interview process. Morrison Healthcare values its team members by offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits, and various voluntary insurance policies. Other perks include associate shopping programs, health and wellness initiatives, and identity theft protection.
Joining Morrison Healthcare is more than just a job; it is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, healthcare professionals, and your local community. With career paths that empower employees to grow and transform healthcare experiences, the company fosters a positive working environment focused on teamwork, respect, and professional development. Morrison Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair treatment of all applicants and associates regardless of their background or identity.
