This small business approach allows for a personalized and supportive work culture that is dedicated to fostering a Successful Aging Community. The Birches focuses on the holistic well-being of its residents, emphasizing Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, and Social health. This commitment makes The Birches not just a place to work, but a community to belong to.
As a Cook at The Birches Assisted Living, you are entrusted with the important role of preparing quality meals that bring happiness and comfort to the residents. The Cook’s role goes beyond food preparation; it is about creating a welcoming atmosphere that supports community building and enhances the lives of senior residents and their families. This full-time position is scheduled permanently from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, allowing for work-life balance and predictable planning for vacations and personal time. The Cook works under the direction of the Dining Services Director and follows all applicable federal, state, and local standards for food safety and quality. The role requires preparing a variety of foods in large quantities, maintaining cleanliness and safety in the food service areas, and adhering to dietary procedures and food service regulations.
The Birches offers numerous additional benefits, such as discounted homemade employee meals, employee and family assistance programs, retirement savings plans, and wellness support. Employees working more than 32 hours per week enjoy extended benefits including medical and dental insurance options, paid leave accrual, paid holidays, life insurance, disability coverage, and continuing education reimbursements. The organization prides itself on its use of live scheduling software, enabling employees to easily manage their schedules and opt for extra shifts if desired. Training and education accommodations are provided to support ongoing career development and cross-training opportunities are available to help employees meet their career goals. The Birches values its employees with unlimited referral bonuses and emphasizes a collaborative, respectful work environment where leadership and teamwork are paramount.
