The Cook role at Centra is a vital frontline culinary position responsible for preparing a wide range of hot and cold food items in accordance with established procedures. This position supports food operations in retail cafes, room service delivery, and catering events, ensuring that all dishes meet quality and safety standards. The Cook communicates directly with the Nutrition Services management team to resolve any issues that arise throughout the day. Key responsibilities include following menus, production sheets, and inventory tracking to prepare food items accurately; assembling trays for room service; taking and fulfilling customer orders in retail areas; conducting taste tests to maintain quality; and accurately recording all food temperatures in compliance with HACCP policies. The role also requires proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment, completing cold prep work, and ensuring all food is labeled and dated correctly. Job Duties
- Communicate directly with Nutrition Services management team on all issues that may arise during the day
- Cook food items according to menus, printed tickets, production sheets, par levels/tally sheets
- Assemble trays for room service program
- In retail areas, take customer orders and prepare according to menu and recipe guidelines
- Complete taste panels each meal
- Record all temperatures on HACCP logs
- Ensure all equipment is used properly, cleaned and inspected, report any operational issues to management
- Complete all prep tasks during designated shift and ensure everything is labeled and dated
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested
