Job Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to correctly and safely use standard kitchen equipment including chefs' knives, convection ovens, rotating rack ovens, meat and cheese slicing machines, steamers, mandolins, grills, and broilers
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to work on feet for 7.5 hours a day excluding breaks
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet time deadlines during peak periods
  • Compliance with ServSafe and HACCP programs and principles
  • Ability to follow all safety rules and actively prevent accidents

Job Qualifications

  • Possession of a ServSafe Certificate or State/City Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to use basic computer programs for inputting and organizing data and menus
  • Commitment to the service values and ethics of Omaha Performing Arts
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and food preparation techniques
  • Experience in cooking and seasoning food according to recipes and customer preferences
  • Ability to promote and uphold Omaha Performing Arts Core Values of Trust, Team, Integrity, and Inclusion

Job Duties

  • Season and cook food according to recipes and experience
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, taking temperatures
  • Adjust seasoning to customer tastes
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to patrons
  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
  • Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
