As part of the vibrant capital region, Design Cuisine leverages the rich cultural and historical backdrop to craft exceptional and unforgettable dining experiences tailored for a broad spectrum of clientele. Specializing in high-quality culinary offerings, Design Cuisine operates under the umbrella of Elior North America, a company known for its commitment to equal opportunity employment, diversity, and fostering employee growth and development across all levels. The Cook / Driver position at Design Cuisine's Dining & Events team, based in Arlington, Virginia, is a full-time, onsite role offering a unique blend of culinary preparation and logistics responsibilities. This position plays a vital role in supporting corporate catering accounts including prestigious clients such as King & Spaulding, Folger’s Library, and the Archer Hotel locations. The role requires the successful candidate to prepare delicious meals that meet high culinary standards and then deliver these meals safely and punctually using company vehicles like vans and small trucks. Beyond food preparation and driving duties, the role also involves operational tasks such as organizing and maintaining client-specific inventory (PAR levels), coordinating deliveries, setting up food buffets, and assisting with back-of-house and warehouse operations during non-delivery times. These warehouse duties include organizing disposables, managing equipment, and supporting food prep as necessary.
The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of experience in a high-volume cooking environment with an emphasis on cooking from scratch, demonstrating proficiency with culinary methods, techniques, and equipment. Attention to detail, customer service skills, and a valid state driver's license are essential. Food Handler's certification is considered a plus but not mandatory. Benefits for this role include a comprehensive medical plan for full-time employees, dental and vision coverage, voluntary insurance offerings like accident and critical illness coverage, a discount program, commuter benefits, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), 401k plan, sick time, holiday pay for nine paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off.
This position is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and are passionate about delivering exceptional food and service. The Cook / Driver role is designed to streamline logistics operations at Design Cuisine, improve accountability for inventory specific to each client, and reduce dependence on additional delivery support. If you are seeking a position that offers a diverse range of responsibilities encompassing both culinary artistry and logistical expertise, while working within a supportive and growth-oriented company, this role is an ideal fit.
