Design Cuisine is a premier catering and business dining service provider located in the Washington, DC area, renowned for delivering exceptional culinary experiences that blend innovation, quality, and service. Situated against the backdrop of the nation's historic capital, Design Cuisine serves a diverse clientele ranging from corporate entities to special event coordinators, ensuring each dining occasion is memorable and tailored to customer preferences. As part of Elior North America, a leading food service provider committed to diversity, employee development, and equal opportunity employment, Design Cuisine benefits from a strong foundation rooted in inclusivity and growth potential.
The Cook / Driver role at Design Cuisine represents a dynamic position within the Dining & Events team based in Arlington, Virginia. This full-time, onsite role is crafted to combine culinary expertise with logistical skill, allowing you to prepare, deliver, and set up delicious food across multiple client locations including prominent accounts like King & Spaulding, Folger's Library, and the Archer Hotels. In this capacity, you are instrumental in ensuring food quality and presentation meet high standards, while also managing the timely and safe delivery of catering orders.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks essential to smooth operations. You will be responsible for receiving, organizing, and maintaining PAR inventory levels for corporate catering accounts to ensure readiness and efficiency in foodservice. In addition to preparing food using proper culinary methods and techniques, you will coordinate and expedite deliveries, drive company vehicles such as vans and small trucks, set up food buffets for catering events, and perform pickups of used equipment. This hands-on role also involves supporting back-of-house and warehouse operations during non-delivery periods by organizing disposables and equipment, assisting with general warehouse organization, and contributing to food preparation when necessary.
This position highlights the importance of operational efficiency and accountability by streamlining logistics and reducing reliance on external delivery support, positioning you as a vital team member in managing client-specific inventory levels. The role demands a thorough knowledge of culinary practices, high attention to detail, and exceptional customer service ability. A valid state driver's license and at least one year of experience in a high-volume kitchen environment where cooking from scratch is emphasized are critical prerequisites.
Joining Design Cuisine as a Cook / Driver offers a unique opportunity to grow your career within a company committed to its employees. Elior North America promotes professional development and provides benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, commuter benefits, and more, ensuring a supportive and rewarding work environment. Working here means becoming part of a diverse team that values dedication, skilled culinary craftsmanship, and logistical precision, all while contributing to creating unforgettable dining experiences for a sophisticated and varied clientele.
