The Cook position at gategroup plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the airline catering operation. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking various food items according to precise recipes while monitoring the production of other cooks, often acting as a lead within the kitchen team. This role involves assembling equipment according to airline specifications, preparing and packaging alcoholic beverages for flights, and ensuring that all production areas comply with stringent sanitation standards and customer requirements. You will also handle inventory documentation and support the Hot Food leadership in maintaining production quality and efficiency. The position demands working collaboratively within a team, following management directions, and executing additional duties as necessary to uphold the high standards expected by gategroup.

Job Requirements
- Handle various food products such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables
- handle knives and kitchen tools properly
- work assigned schedule which may vary and could include weekends and holidays
- work overtime when required
- arrive to work on-time
- complete paperwork and related administrative duties
- comply with company policies
- able to lift, push, pull, and move products, equipment and supplies up to fifty pounds frequently
- regularly stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred
- at least 2 years of experience cooking in a high volume institutional catering environment is preferred
- experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared
- recipe conversion experience required to accommodate the kitchen’s daily production needs
- ability to read, write, and follow food specifications and menu guidelines
- effective communication skills with supervisors and co-workers
Job Duties
- Assembles equipment according to airline specifications following procedures and assembly diagrams
- packages and prepares alcoholic beverages for airline flights
- keeps production areas in compliance with sanitation standards and customer requirements
