Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • one year experience in food preparation preferred
  • experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities
  • ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • knowledge of practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in post-acute care
  • ability to implement and interpret department policies and procedures
  • proficiency in patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • ability to maintain professional working relationships
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • understanding and following company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • one year experience in food preparation preferred
  • experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities
  • knowledge of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a post-acute care facility
  • ability to follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • good communication skills and ability to work on an interdisciplinary team
  • proficiency in English language

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve meals that are appetizing in both taste and appearance and appropriate for each patient
  • knowledgeable of ordered diets as well as food consistency
  • ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
  • serve meals and snacks in a timely manner
  • utilize production tools and recipes provided to prepare meals and snacks
  • exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • assist in the evacuation of patients
