Delaware North is hiring seasonal Cooks to join their foodservice team at Climate Pledge Arena. The role offers a competitive hourly wage of $27.40 and is ideal for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to grow in a dynamic, collaborative environment. As a Cook, you will be a key visible leader responsible for preparing quality menu items in alignment with established menus, recipes, and safety standards. Your responsibilities will include reviewing menus, preparing and cooking food items, operating kitchen equipment, and ensuring compliance with health codes and sanitation regulations. The position is integral in delivering excellent service during a variety of events, including sports games, concerts, holidays, and weekends, with flexible shifts including days, evenings, and special event hours.

Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of relevant kitchen or foodservice experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
  • Basic math skills to measure ingredients accurately
  • Capacity to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
  • Manual dexterity to chop, mix, blend, whip foods, and operate kitchen equipment
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and event shifts
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of previous experience in a back-of-the-house foodservice position
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare food to comply with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures, ensuring proper food temperatures are maintained, food is stored correctly, the freshness and quality of all menu items are maintained, and packages all products to proper specifications
  • Keep workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Use waste control guidelines and record all waste on the spoilage sheet
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties and end-of-day inventory in accordance with guidelines
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Uphold all health codes and sanitation regulations
