The Cook Apprentice role at Sodexo, based at the University of Colorado at Denver location, is an entry-level position designed to nurture and develop culinary skills in aspiring culinarians and future kitchen leaders. This full-time position offers a competitive pay range from $10.00 to $19.29 per hour, depending on experience and performance. As a Cook Apprentice, you will embark on a comprehensive, six-week training program focused on honing your cooking techniques across multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and various catered or special events. This experiential learning opportunity is crafted to build your proficiency in preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a diverse array of hot and cold food items efficiently and to the highest standards.
Throughout this program, you will gain invaluable knowledge on maintaining kitchen cleanliness, adhering to safety standards, and fostering a healthy and safe working environment with your team. The role requires adaptability, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset, with an emphasis on cultivating leadership qualities that will prepare you for future advancement to a Cook I position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Punctual attendance and a strong work ethic are fundamental expectations for this role.

Job Duties
- Accurately and efficiently prepare food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Portion, cook, and present hot and/or cold food items
- Participate in a 6-week training program to develop culinary skills
- Attend scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen environment
- Collaborate with team members to provide quality service
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs and client requirements
