The role of Food Production Cook at Care New England Health System is a critical position responsible for preparing and serving food to various patient and dining areas as well as supporting special functions and catered events within the health system. This role operates under the general direction of the Food Production Manager and requires a meticulous approach to the preparation and handling of food, adherence to standardized recipes, and strict compliance with food safety regulations and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) procedures. The Food Production Cook is tasked with maintaining high standards of food cleanliness and safety throughout all phases of food production, from preparation through to plating and service.

This position demands proficiency in institutional cooking techniques, the ability to manage food quantity and quality, and the capacity to maintain hygienic conditions within the work area. The Food Production Cook also plays an essential role in patient care by serving meals thoughtfully and efficiently, while supporting the broader goals of the healthcare facility by ensuring all nutritional and safety standards are met. Additionally, this role requires maintaining Food Safety Certification through an approved vendor and performing cleaning duties to uphold a safe and sanitary kitchen environment. The position is ideal for individuals with a background in culinary arts or equivalent institutional cooking experience, who are compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of working within a fast-paced healthcare setting.   • At least two years of institutional cooking or an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts

  • Proficiency in the English language

  • Responsible for the preparation and cooling of foods using standardized recipes, production sheets and HACCP records
  • Responsible for maintaining principles of proper food production and other related activities
  • Serves and plates meals for patient services as needed
  • Control quantity and quality of food handling and cleanliness in the work area
  • Maintains high standards of food handling and cleanliness in the work area
  • Responsible for cleaning work area throughout and at end of shift
  • Assist with catered events for food preparation and service
