This landmark hotel features 215 spacious guest rooms and suites, each offering breathtaking floor-to-ceiling views of the city skyline, Charles River, Boston Harbor, and beyond. The hotel boasts a wide range of amenities, including The Wellness Floor—a five-star urban spa destination, chic dining options like the popular brunch spot One+One, and Trifecta, an acclaimed restaurant and cocktail lounge recognized for Boston's finest cocktails and New England cuisine. We are currently seeking passionate and detail-oriented individuals to join our Culinary team as Cook 2. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner food items according to guest orders, adhering strictly to production requirements and quality standards, all while maintaining a clean and safe culinary workspace. The Cook 2 plays a vital role in supporting kitchen operations by preparing food that meets high-quality standards, maintaining kitchen equipment, managing food storage and rotation, and ensuring efficient use of ingredients to control food costs and waste. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum two years culinary experience or related field
- legal authorization to work in the United States
- ability to work 40 hours over five days with flexible schedule
- proficiency in operating and cleaning kitchen equipment
- strong attention to detail
- ability to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school education, cooking school or culinary institute education or equivalent experience
- minimum two years culinary or related work experience
- intermediate culinary knowledge is expected for this position
- working knowledge generally learned on-the-job
- ability to operate, maintain and properly clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
- proficient knife skills
- ability to multi-task
Job Duties
- Prepare food items according to guest orders of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion, and presentation standards
- complete mis en place and set-up station for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner service
- start food items that are prepared ahead of time making sure not to prepare beyond estimated needs
- operate, maintain and properly clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
- date all food containers and rotate as per policies, ensuring all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
- note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
- return all food items not used to designated storage areas, covering and dating all perishables
- assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems
- control food waste, loss and usage per policies
- work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
- assist in prep work of vegetables and condiments as required for the next shift
