The Cook role at Holy Cross Hospital Mountain Point plays an essential part in supporting the overall mission of providing top-quality patient care. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals tailored to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to strict therapeutic diet requirements and following all applicable state and federal regulations concerning food preparation in healthcare settings. It also involves handling various kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, slicers, and fryers while modifying preparations to accommodate food allergies and specific dietary needs.
This position is a PRN (pro re nata) position, meaning it operates on an as-needed basis, ideal for individuals seeking flexible employment that aligns with other commitments. The Cook must follow precise foodservice industry standards including monitoring and maintaining safe food temperatures during cooking, storage, and service to prevent foodborne illnesses and cross-contamination. - One (1) year foodservice experience
- High school diploma GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Food Handlers Permit if required by state county or local health code must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- Ability to perform medium work involving exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly

Job Duties
- Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers mixers ovens fryers steamers stove tops and grills
- Modifies preparations to account for food allergies
- Follows healthcare foodservice industry standards regulations guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking holding and storage processes
- Avoids cross-contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements
- Maintains labeling and storage of food equipment and machinery
- Performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas
- Performs other duties as assigned by leader
