As a Cook, the individual plays a key role in managing daily kitchen operations, including ensuring timely food service, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and assisting with catering events and special functions. They also contribute to risk management and compliance by upholding quality assurance standards and infection control practices. The position requires excellent communication skills to respond to the needs of residents and staff and maintain confidentiality where sensitive information is concerned.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years quantity and/or restaurant-style cooking experience
- Knowledge of cooking methods and food and catering trends with focus on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation
- Experience in food cost and operational control preferred
- Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) and diet management software preferred
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled
- Ability to lift, transfer, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
- Willingness to follow sanitation and safety protocols
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Able to work in environments with exposure to infectious waste, disease, and temperature changes
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of quantity and/or restaurant-style cooking experience
- Knowledge of cooking methods and food and catering trends focusing on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation
- Experience in food cost and operational control preferred
- Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) and diet management software preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve food and meals following planned menus and recipe cards
- Ensure timely and efficient meal service according to quality standards and sanitary regulations
- Stock and maintain food product levels at line stations for smooth service
- Portion food according to standard sizes and recipe specifications
- Review production quantities and estimate required portions
- Communicate inventory of leftovers to manager for menu integration
- Assist in maintaining food and supplies inventory and notify supervisor of shortages
- Participate in cleaning duties and maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and safe manner
- Follow daily prep and opening/closing checklists for assigned duties
- Assist with catering needs and special events
- Support training and coaching of cooking staff as directed
- Assume responsibility of food production operations in the absence of supervisor
- Ensure consistently high-quality food production
- Follow special diet orders and portion control
- Maintain clean and sanitary culinary work areas and equipment
- Adhere to quality assurance, infection control, and universal precautions
- Share insights for improving quality and efficiencies
- Attend meetings and in-service training
- Listen and respond to needs of residents and staff
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information
- Maintain accurate records and production orders
- Perform all other assigned duties
