The Cook position within DCH Health System’s Nutritional Services is essential for preparing a wide array of cooked and baked food products that meet specific nutritional and taste standards, intended for patients and other customers. Job Duties

  • Performs all duties of an Assistant Cook
  • promotes and coordinates standard and special set up and layout of buffets and stations of food items as set out by Manager or Supervisor
  • competent in managing requisitions for food and supplies, menu maintenance and recipe maintenance of specific food stations
  • proficient in use and set-up of all equipment related to production of and superior customer service as regards specific stations
  • prepares and cooks a wide variety of foods following standardized recipes to achieve required taste, appearance and nutritional standards
  • quickly and accurately adjust recipes through basic cooking principles and elementary mathematical skills
  • constantly maintain work area and equipment in a clean, sanitary condition
  • promote customer service through effective completion of assignments according to schedule and time lines
  • effectively understand and follow oral and written directions
  • proficient in use of all equipment related to production of food and superior customer service
  • maintains, promotes and enforces HAACP program in assigned areas including proper storage and temperature maintenance, time and task schedules and cleaning schedules
  • must complete and update ServSafe course
  • ability to perform duties of cooks assistant, server and janitor as well as limited bakery and pastry responsibilities
  • reconciliation of food usage through hands on administration and tracking resources and systems
  • must adhere to all DCH Health System and Nutritional Services Policies and Procedures
  • may require working variable shifts
