The Cook role at Sunrise Senior Living is vital in delivering high-quality meals that support the health, enjoyment, and well-being of residents. This position requires preparing and serving meals according to standardized recipes and menus while ensuring strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines. The cook plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment and is responsible for food storage, inventory management, and kitchen equipment maintenance. Additionally, the cook must follow dietary modifications and special meal requirements requested by residents or healthcare professionals.

This position involves much more than cooking; it is about creating meals that bring residents together and enhance their dining experience in a comfortable and caring setting. The cook also supports dishwashing and dining service tasks and may lead food production activities in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation or cook role preferred
  • ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve meals according to standardized recipes and menus
  • ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet Sunrise standards
  • follow dietary modifications and special meal requirements
  • record production quantities and food safety temperatures
  • stock, rotate, date, and store food per safety regulations
  • maintain clean kitchen, storage, and equipment areas
  • complete cleaning logs and equipment maintenance reports
  • follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines
  • support dishwashing and dining service as needed
  • lead food production in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator
