Job Description
This job opportunity is at a dynamic and fast-paced restaurant known for delivering quality food products and exceptional customer service. The establishment prioritizes maintaining high operational and quality standards to ensure an outstanding dining experience for its customers. This restaurant is committed to fostering a safe, clean, and efficient working environment where employees play a crucial role in upholding the company’s values and reputation. The work environment requires employees to be vigilant, proactive, and dedicated, especially given the nature of the food service industry involving heat, lifting, and standing for extended periods. The restaurant operates with a focus on teamwork, excellent communication, and strict adherence to safety and sanitation protocols.
The position being offered is a Cook, reporting directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD). This is a full-time, nonexempt position that involves cooking, preparing, and packaging food products to meet the company’s operational and quality standards. The role requires working irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the needs of the restaurant’s operating schedule. The Cook is responsible for operating various kitchen stations, including the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food preparation areas. This variety provides an engaging and multifaceted job experience that develops culinary skills and operational knowledge.
The Cook must comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards to ensure consistency and quality across all food products. A significant part of the job involves performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties, such as trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease. These tasks are essential for maintaining a hygienic kitchen environment and preventing contamination or foodborne illnesses.
Additional responsibilities include managing inventory by moving and stocking food products weighing up to 50 pounds, addressing customer or employee complaints by reporting them to the MOD, and taking on other job-related duties as assigned or required. The role demands regular attendance and punctuality to support smooth kitchen operations and teamwork.
This role requires someone with general restaurant or retail knowledge, as well as basic math and reading skills. Effective verbal and written communication abilities are necessary to follow directions and interact with team members successfully. Multitasking skills are critical for handling multiple tasks concurrently in a busy kitchen environment. Overall, this position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to build or advance their culinary career in a professional restaurant setting while contributing to a team-oriented workplace.
