Within the food and beverage operations at Typhoon Texas Austin, the role of Food and Beverage Cooks is essential in delivering delicious menu items and exceptional guest experiences. Cooks are tasked with preparing, cooking, and assembling a wide variety of food offerings that are served across multiple park locations, such as The Patio, Lone Star Fry Shack, Snackin' Wagon, Ray's Pizza, Ben's Soft Pretzels, various kiosk locations, and catering services. This position involves working with various kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, warmers, smokers, and ovens, while ensuring all food is prepared, cooked, held, and served safely and efficiently.

Food and Beverage Cooks at Typhoon Texas Austin play a pivotal role in maintaining the quality and safety of all food items. They are responsible not only for cooking but also for conducting temperature checks, assembling and serving menu items according to departmental protocols, and adhering strictly to health department regulations and the park's own safety policies. Keeping workstations clean, organized, and sanitized is a critical part of the job to ensure compliance with health standards and deliver a positive guest experience.

This role requires adaptability and teamwork as cooks work across various functions, including prep, fryer, griller, expo, and catering duties. The position demands physical stamina, as employees will be on their feet for extended periods and may need to lift items between 25 and 50 pounds. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain positive and professional communication skills is essential for success. Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must have or obtain a valid Food Handler’s permit
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • May be required to lift 25-50 lbs
  • May be required to work in various weather conditions, such as direct sunlight, high temperatures, or rain
  • Must be able to multitask and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to communicate in a positive and professional manner and work well with others

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and perform temperature checks on applicable food items in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Assemble and serve menu items according to departmental procedures in various roles such as prep, cook, catering, fryer, griller, expo
  • Complete daily restocking, cleaning tasks and dishwashing assigned by departmental leadership, as well as weekly deep cleaning tasks
  • Keep workstations, equipment, floors, windows, carts, coolers, freezers and any other supplies used clean, organized, and properly sanitized in compliance with health department and Typhoon Texas standards
  • Ensure products are fresh and that FIFO (first in, first out) is followed to maintain proper product rotation
  • Ensure compliance with all Health Department regulations while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment
  • Properly operate assigned tools such as knives, pizza cutters, can openers and all equipment used in the assigned outlet's operation
  • Safely operate equipment such as dollies and pallet jacks
  • Follow all food handling protocols, including preventing time and temperature abuse
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Comply with all Pyek Group, Typhoon Texas, and Food & Beverage policies and procedures
  • Proactively identify operational and equipment issues and collaborate with leadership to resolve them
  • Maintain knowledge of POS systems, food handling equipment, cleaning protocols, and safety procedures
  • Embody Typhoon Texas’s moment making keys of intentionality, Texas-friendliness, safety, cleanliness, and fun throughout all departments
  • Assist with other responsibilities, roles, departments, or park locations as assigned
