We are currently seeking a skilled Cook who is proficient in prepping and cooking a wide variety of foods, including soups, grilled and roasted meats and vegetables, cold salads, dips, and dressings. This role involves working with large batches of food, utilizing professional kitchen equipment, and following established recipes with precision. The Cook is expected to demonstrate the ability to make appropriate judgments and adjustments when necessary, working both independently and collaboratively within the kitchen team. This is a hands-on role that demands a strong commitment to maintaining clean and organized workspaces for maximum efficiency and compliance with food safety standards.

As a Cook, you will collaborate closely with the Shift Leader and Kitchen Manager to maximize production efficiency, organize labor and recipes strategically, and ensure smooth communication across shifts. You will be responsible for prepping and preparing dishes according to exact recipe specifications while maintaining meticulous food safety practices, including proper cooling, storage, and labeling procedures. The cook must also support packaging and stocking duties, emphasizing accurate labeling and inventory management using the FIFO system. Additionally, the role involves active participation in dishwashing duties and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and order.

Customer service forms a critical part of this role, where the Cook addresses questions from the front of house regarding sushi production and interacts with customers professionally and positively. When necessary, the Cook must seek guidance from supervisors to handle customer inquiries appropriately.

This position requires Servesafe food handler certification upon hiring, along with relevant experience in sushi preparation preferred but not mandatory. Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends, is essential. The ideal candidate will have organized, clean, and efficient work habits combined with the ability to maintain consistent product quality and work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Overall, this role is vital to the culinary operation's success, balancing food production, safety, customer service, and teamwork.

Job Duties

  • Prep and prepare dishes per recipe specifications and Kitchen Manager instructions
  • Collaborate with Shift Leader to maximize production efficiency

  • Cool and store foods according to food safety guidelines
  • Accurately communicate production information to oncoming shifts

  • Skillfully pack all foods with accurate labeling and neat appearance
  • Store and record food packaging information
  • Stock and face food using FIFO system
  • Report out-of-date or poor-quality items to Shift Leader
  • Uphold professional boundaries and working environment
  • Maintain clear communication with sushi lead, shift leader, and kitchen manager
  • Keep work station clean and orderly
  • Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety codes
  • Address front of house questions about sushi production
