Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, renowned for its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities around the world. The company operates across multiple sectors, including healthcare, education, corporate, and remote sites, providing tailored food service solutions and integrated facilities management to meet diverse client needs. With a strong dedication to creating better everyday experiences for customers and employees alike, Sodexo emphasizes sustainability, inclusiveness, and innovation in all aspects of its operations. Sodexo's values prioritize respect, fairness, and the empowerment of its workforce, fostering a culture where employees' voices are heard and individuality is celebrated. Part of Sodexo’s success lies in its ability to blend global expertise with local service, adapting to the unique needs of each client and community it serves.
The part-time Cook position at Sodexo, located at Iroquois Nursing Home, offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This role requires an individual who is passionate about food preparation and eager to contribute meaningfully to a healthcare food service environment. The Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a wide variety of hot and cold meals that meet Sodexo’s high standards for quality, safety, and presentation. Working afternoon and evening shifts with varying days and rotating weekends, this role demands flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety regulations.
As a Cook at Sodexo, you will engage in the meticulous preparation of meals for residents and guests, ensuring that all food items are made with consistency and care. Your role includes following recipes and product directions accurately, managing portion sizes, and maintaining a clean, organized workstation throughout shifts that may extend beyond eight hours. Physical stamina is important as the job requires significant periods of standing and walking, along with tasks involving bending, lifting, and performing repetitive motions. Sodexo values teamwork, so this position also entails collaborating effectively with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations.
This role is well-suited for individuals with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, some experience or familiarity with basic food handling and kitchen equipment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Sodexo offers a supportive and flexible work environment, competitive pay ranging from $19 to $21 per hour, and opportunities for professional growth through ongoing training and development programs. Additional benefits include paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plans, and employee discount programs. Sodexo’s commitment to equality and respect ensures a workplace free from discrimination and focused on inclusivity.
By joining Sodexo as a Cook, you will contribute directly to enhancing the well-being of nursing home residents through nourishing meals and exceptional service. You’ll be part of a company that values your contributions, supports your career aspirations, and fosters an environment where you can thrive both professionally and personally. Sodexo encourages candidates to discuss any questions about job duties or benefits during the interview process, underscoring their focus on transparency and employee satisfaction.
