The role of Cook at Gulf Coast Restaurant Group is integral to maintaining the quality and consistency of the food served across its establishments. This position focuses on preparing food items in alignment with established food production procedures and sanitation standards to ensure the utmost in food safety and customer satisfaction. The Cook is responsible not only for food preparation but also for the efficient use of kitchen supplies and equipment to minimize waste and maintain operational efficiency.

This position requires hands-on involvement in daily kitchen operations including washing and cleaning raw food products, peeling, dicing, shredding, slicing, and cooking various food items using different kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and microwaves. Attention to detail in following recipes and special dietary orders is essential to meet and exceed guest expectations. Additionally, the Cook participates in daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance routines to keep the kitchen environment hygienic and safe for all staff.

Working in a dynamic kitchen environment, the Cook must adapt to frequent exposure to elements such as heat, steam, moisture, and various food products while adhering to health regulations and personal hygiene practices. This role also emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and stress management given the fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding nature of the job.

The position does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing the Cook to focus on food preparation and ensuring that all meals are served on time and to specification. While this role primarily operates during regular shifts, it does require long hours and frequent weekend work to meet the busy demands of the restaurant. There may also be occasional travel for meetings related to job responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working in a restaurant or kitchen preferred
  • Ability to prepare and cook food items according to recipes

  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends

Job Duties

  • Prepares food served using established production procedures and systems
  • Serves or ensures proper serving of food for dining room
  • Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards
  • Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item
  • Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor
  • Correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders
  • Apportions food for serving
  • Prepare assigned food items
  • Wash and clean raw food products
  • Peel, dice, shred and slice food products using kitchen equipment
  • Measure and assemble ingredients and cook items according to recipes and menu specifications
  • Grill, deep fry, bake, broil and microwave raw and prepped foods
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance of equipment
  • Stock and restock items on line according to specifications
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times
  • cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation
  • Completes food temperature checks before service
