The role of Cook at Aramark presents a unique opportunity for culinary enthusiasts who have a passion for food and creativity in the kitchen. As a Cook on the team, you will engage in bringing recipes to life by experimenting with different cuisines, flavors, and cooking techniques while working with fresh ingredients and industry-grade equipment. This position goes beyond basic food preparation, offering a hands-on experience where you can showcase your culinary skills and contribute to creating memorable food experiences for guests. Key responsibilities include setting up the workstation with necessary ingredients and tools, preparing ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling, and skillfully operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers. You will also practice various cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming to prepare meat, vegetables, and other menu items, while ensuring food is arranged, garnished, and portioned according to established guidelines. A strong emphasis is placed on adhering to food safety policies for proper storage and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils. In addition to food preparation duties, maintaining excellent customer service with a positive demeanor toward guests, clients, coworkers, and customers is integral to the role. Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations including accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use various cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers
  • Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensure security of company assets
