Job Description
The Rinks is a premier sports and entertainment organization dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for both employees and guests. Known for operating a variety of ice rinks and sports complexes, The Rinks focuses on fostering a positive environment where teamwork and outstanding service are at the forefront. With several facilities across various locations, The Rinks aims to be a leader in the sports entertainment industry by promoting a culture of inclusiveness, professionalism, and continual improvement.
One of the key locations is the Great Park Ice and Sports Complex, a state-of-the-art venue that hosts a wide range of sports events, tournaments, and entertainment activities. The complex also houses a Food and Beverage Department committed to offering quality culinary experiences during events. The Rinks is currently seeking a part-time Cook to join this dynamic team and contribute to the success of event-based operations.
This cook position is pivotal in supporting kitchen operations by assisting Chefs and other kitchen staff in preparing food that meets high standards of quality, safety, and presentation. The role involves fluctuating hours that correspond with the arena’s event schedules, making flexibility an essential attribute for candidates. The position starts at an hourly rate of $21.00, reflecting competitive compensation within the food service sector for part-time event-based roles.
The Cook will play an integral role in maintaining stringent temperature controls and adhering to proper food handling procedures, including labeling, dating, and rotating food products with attention to detail using methods like FIFO (first in, first out). Knowledge of the eight most common food allergens is critical to ensure guest safety and compliance with health standards. The Cook is expected to follow recipe guidelines meticulously to prepare menu items as specified, maintaining food quality and appearance to established benchmarks.
Safety, sanitation, and hospitality are cornerstones of this role. The Cook must practice proper safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times while engaging positively with guests and team members alike to enhance their experience within the complex. This role also requires familiarity with the layout of the arena to assist guests effectively and support other Food and Beverage departments when necessary.
Moreover, this position demands excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently across different stations in the kitchen. The Cook must have a working knowledge of state and local health code requirements and demonstrate capabilities in kitchen procedures and knife skills. As a team player, the Cook will collaborate closely with operations counterparts to meet event standards of service and fulfill any additional tasks assigned by supervisors or managers.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about cooking within a fast-paced, event-driven environment and who are committed to providing outstanding food and hospitality services. Joining The Rinks not only means becoming part of a respected sports and entertainment organization but also contributing to a team dedicated to excellence and guest satisfaction. If you thrive in a collaborative atmosphere and possess the skills required, The Rinks welcomes your application to be part of a team where every skate has a purpose and every guest’s experience matters.
