Job Description

This job opening is for the position of an entry-level Cook within SpaceX's food services department. The cook role involves working within one of the company's various food outlets, where providing high-quality and nutritious meal options plays an essential role in supporting overall employee morale and operational productivity. This is a full-time position where individuals will apply fundamental cooking techniques and food safety principles to prepare and plate dishes according to leadership’s instructions. The position enables the maintenance of a clean and efficient kitchen environment while adhering to time and quality standards. Compensation for this role starts at $23.00 per hour for entry-level and can rise to $27.00 per hour depending on experience and skills.

The role requires proficiency in using standard kitchen equipment and an understanding of basic culinary methods including sauce preparation, meat, and vegetable handling. Candidates will gain valuable experience in a corporate kitchen setting, contributing to a fast-paced food service team supporting SpaceX employees. The position involves daily food prep tasks, cooking, plating meals for service, and ensuring cleanliness and safety across kitchen workstations and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to carry large heavy items, such as dishes in tubs or trays unassisted (up to 25 lbs)
  • ability to stand for long periods of time - up to 8 hours a day
  • ability to work all shifts and be available for overtime and weekends, as needed
  • ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • culinary degree or 2+ years of experience in the food service industry
  • basic knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • possession of or willingness to obtain a food handler card
  • high level of professionalism
  • experience in a corporate environment
  • strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook primarily)
  • understanding of standard kitchen hierarchy and roles
  • understanding of basic cooking methods, including sauce making and meat and vegetable preparations
  • sound understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • willingness to learn and take guidance from others
