Job Description

This job opening is for the position of Cook, reporting directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD) within a dynamic restaurant environment. The restaurant operates with a commitment to delivering high-quality food products while maintaining strict operational and safety standards. This establishment caters to diverse clientele, focusing on providing an excellent culinary experience and ensuring customer satisfaction through superior food preparation and presentation.

As a Cook at this restaurant, your primary responsibility will be to cook, prepare, and package food products in accordance with the company's operational standards and quality guidelines. You will operate various kitchen stations such as the dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food preparation stations as assigned. The role requires a keen eye for detail and adherence to company policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.

In addition to preparing food, the Cook is expected to perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties. This includes trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying grease traps to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. The role demands regular attendance and punctuality, especially since the work hours can be irregular, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

This position is nonexempt, meaning it qualifies for overtime pay according to company and federal guidelines. The work environment involves continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting within a bustling restaurant setting. Cooks may frequently be exposed to heat and hot liquid shortening during cooking, freezer temperatures while stocking food items, and sometimes extreme weather conditions depending on the location and shift.

The successful candidate will bring general restaurant or retail knowledge, basic math and reading skills, and effective communication abilities. They must be capable of following directions, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and reporting any customer or employee issues to the Manager on Duty promptly. Physical strength is also necessary since the job requires moving and stocking food products weighing up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements
