Job Description

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Downtown is a well-established healthcare institution committed to providing exceptional medical services and compassionate care to its community. As part of the broader Bon Secours Health System, the facility upholds the values of respect, compassion, and excellence in healthcare. The hospital is located in a vibrant downtown area and serves a diverse population, offering a wide range of medical and surgical services. This hospital operates with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and support staff who work collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes for patients and the community it serves.

We are currently seeking friendly, compassionate, and motivated individuals to join our culinary team in the role of Cook. This position is hourly, paying $18.00 per hour, and offers both full-time and part-time opportunities including day, evening, and night shifts at the Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown location. This role is critical to ensuring patients, hospital staff, and visitors receive nutritious, high-quality meals prepared with care and attention to detail.

The Cook works under the guidance of the Chef or Production Manager and is responsible for cooking meals and providing food service across the hospital's various food outlets, including the patient meal service, retail cafe, and catering events. The role requires adherence to company recipes and food safety standards to maintain consistent quality. Additionally, maintaining a clean and organized work environment and following sanitation and closing procedures are essential components of the job.

This position demands employees who are team players and willing to assist colleagues and management to ensure smooth departmental operations. The job also requires compliance with health and safety policies, as well as maintaining a professional appearance and good personal hygiene. Given the healthcare setting, the Cook must pass background checks, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. The physical demands include prolonged standing and walking, occasional lifting of heavy items up to 50 pounds, and the ability to operate necessary kitchen equipment.

Joining our team means becoming part of a family-owned business that values honesty, quality, and dedication. HHS, founded in 1975 as Hospital Housekeeping Systems, now supports nearly 1,000 customers across six industries, offering services in housekeeping, food, and facility management. We prioritize work-life balance, competitive wages, excellent training, and career advancement opportunities for our employees.

This position offers significant benefits such as paid time off, medical and dental insurance, a 401K retirement plan, short-term disability, voluntary life insurance, and participation in a safety incentive program. We encourage veterans and candidates with military experience to apply. The role is an excellent fit for those seeking a stable, rewarding career in a reputable healthcare environment, with chances to grow and develop professionally within the company.
