Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • one year experience as a cook
  • may substitute culinary school enrollment or graduation for experience
  • none required for licenses and certifications
  • Serve Safe certification preferred
  • ability to perform physical tasks related to cooking and food preparation
  • flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules
  • commitment to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • one year experience as a cook or equivalent experience
  • currently enrolled in or graduated from an accredited culinary school may substitute for experience
  • Serve Safe certification preferred
  • knowledge of food safety standards
  • ability to follow recipes and instructions closely
  • strong teamwork and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Perform a variety of tasks in the preparation of meals
  • interpret recipes accurately
  • cook and assemble large volumes of food for cafeteria, patient, and catering meals
  • ensure food safety and hygiene standards are maintained
  • collaborate with kitchen staff to meet meal production schedules
  • assist with inventory management and stock rotation
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
