The Cook position at Fat Tuesday is pivotal to the restaurant's day-to-day operations and is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments. The role involves preparing meals following established recipes with a strong adherence to food health and safety procedures. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, organizing workstations, and assisting other kitchen staff while ensuring that meals are prepared promptly and correctly. This role requires operating cooking equipment such as grills, ovens, and fryers efficiently and safely. The cook's duties also include taking orders from wait staff or computerized systems, managing multiple food orders simultaneously, and presenting dishes attractively to meet the restaurant's standards. Communication and teamwork are essential in this role, as the cook will often need to collaborate with fellow cooks and other team members to maintain smooth kitchen operations. In addition to cooking duties, the role expects participation in cleaning and sanitizing workstations and utensils, restocking supplies, and supporting the overall organization of the kitchen. This position demands a high level of stamina and physical capability, including standing and walking for extended periods, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and comfort in working in warm, busy kitchen environments. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • must have the ability and stamina to work a minimum of 30 hours a week

  • must be able to work in warm environments
  • work environment includes exposure to food, liquor, mixing devices, drink machines, water, sanitizers, cleaning products, knives, other sharp objects, and slippery floors

Job Duties

  • Setting up, cleaning, and organizing workstations
  • preparing ingredients for the shift including washing vegetables, chopping, and seasoning meat
  • preparing oven, utensils, and grill for shift
  • taking orders from wait staff or computerized system
  • cooking orders according to food health and safety standards
  • recommending ideas for specials or seasonal dishes
  • handling multiple food orders at one time
  • monitoring multiple food orders as new orders arrive
  • dressing orders for presentation
  • ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides
  • delivering food orders to wait staff in a timely manner
  • storing all food properly
  • sanitizing and cleaning workstations and utensils
  • reordering stock and food supplies
  • monitoring other cooks and team members
  • assisting other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed
