Management & Training Corporation (MTC) proudly operates the Inland Empire Job Corps Center located in San Bernardino, California. The full-time Food Services Worker role at the Inland Empire Job Corps Center offers an hourly wage of $24.86. This key position entails preparing meals for a large number of students, following government guidelines and pre-planned menus. Reporting to the food services supervisor or a designated supervisor, the individual in this role ensures quality, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen while also contributing to the overall food service operations. The role is multifaceted, combining culinary preparation responsibilities with leadership aspects such as instructing culinary workers, supervising student assistants, and supporting center-wide special events.
Beyond routine food preparation duties, the Food Services Worker is expected to model and promote career success standards. This includes fostering a safe, respectful work environment free from harassment and intimidation, mentoring students as needed, and maintaining accountability in all tasks. The role requires coordination in managing kitchen equipment, supplies, and stockroom commodities, recommending replenishment items to maintain smooth kitchen operations. Additionally, this role supports the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy, reinforcing behavioral standards and contributing to a positive learning and working environment.
Candidates for the position are expected to have experience working with youth, excellent communication skills, and computer proficiency. Within three months of employment, obtaining Servsafe certification is mandatory, reflecting the employer’s commitment to food safety and quality standards. - must obtain Servsafe certification within 90 days of employment

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of students
- assist in instructing culinary workers in the safe, hygienic method of preparing and serving appetizing, eye-appealing meals
- maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition
- ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times
- prepare foods as directed for special center functions, visitors and off-center assignments
- assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal
- supervise students assigned to assist in the cafeteria
