Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years experience in an institutional food service role
  • Certification in food safety such as ServSafe where required
  • Ability to adhere to food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines
  • Capability to handle physical demands of cooking and kitchen work
  • Willingness to work cooperatively with kitchen staff and supervisors
  • Reliable transportation to and from the facility required

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Two or more years experience in food service in institutional settings preferred
  • ServSafe certification or similar food safety certification preferred
  • Knowledge of dietary guidelines and menu preparation
  • Ability to manage kitchen inventory and supplies
  • Experience in food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Plan and prepare foods according to facility policies and approved dietary guidelines
  • Coordinate individual cooking schedules to ensure timely preparation of regular and therapeutic menus
  • Follow recipes and portioning procedures for meats, entrees, gravies, casseroles, vegetables, soups, salads, and desserts
  • Ensure safe food storage maintaining temperature logs and proper labeling
  • Set up attractive steam tables and label foods according to modifications
  • Direct staff assisting in meal preparation and serving
  • Perform cleaning and inspection of kitchen equipment and maintain kitchen cleanliness
