The Luskin Conference Center (LCC) is a premier conference and lodging facility located on the UCLA campus, known for its exceptional blend of hospitality and academic support services. Spanning 300,000 square feet over seven floors, the LCC features 254 guest rooms, extensive meeting spaces totaling approximately 25,000 square feet, a 160-seat restaurant named Plateia, and various amenities such as a fitness center and a business center. Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Complete a satisfactory background check
  • Complete a Live Scan background check prior to employment
  • Pass a pre-placement physical examination
  • Availability to work variable schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Ability to comply with safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Strong culinary skills and food safety knowledge

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years food preparation and general kitchen maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and speak English sufficiently to perform job duties
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations respectfully and culturally responsively
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member
  • Skill in reading, writing, and performing basic calculations for recipes and portion control
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety rules in food production and storage
  • Familiarity with inventory control principles and methods
  • Ability to comply with personal and public safety standards
  • Capacity to produce and present food under fluctuating workload conditions
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Ability to operate independently with good judgment to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Strong culinary techniques and understanding of culinary terminology

Job Duties

  • Prep and produce menu items for Plateia Restaurant guests
  • Prepare in-room dining items for LCC hotel guests
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation according to safety standards
  • Assist Luskin Conference Center Banquets team as needed based on business demands
  • Ensure compliance with food safety rules and procedures
  • Manage inventory control and monitor kitchen supplies
  • Work cooperatively as part of the culinary team in a high-volume restaurant environment
