This role offers a competitive fixed pay rate of $21.13 per hour and is a critical part of the culinary team responsible for preparing and serving food to the campus community in accordance with federal, state, and local health and safety standards. The Cook 1 position requires at least one year of experience in a professional kitchen culinary role, and it involves preparing food items according to daily production schedules and established recipes. The role includes maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, storing and labeling food properly, and ensuring compliance with HACCP guidelines to safeguard food quality and safety. Candidates in this position will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where they serve customers efficiently and politely at multiple stations, including steam tables and grill.\n\nThis job encourages a team-oriented approach where cooperation with chefs and kitchen staff is essential for maintaining high-quality food preparation. In addition to operational duties, Cooks in this role are expected to document production activities and waste, taste completed meals to ensure quality, and resolve customer concerns professionally. Working shifts may vary, and additional scheduling details will be discussed during the interview process. Job Duties

  • obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the chef
  • prepare items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes
  • complete and follow daily production worksheets and waste log sheets, taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • operate and clean equipment per department procedures after each use
  • store, label and date all food items according to policy, follow HACCP guidelines
  • complete all required documentation, reports and logs as required
  • comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation time
  • serve customers in an efficient and friendly manner
  • complete orders from steam tables and grill and serve customers at multiple stations
  • use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • resolve customer concerns
  • perform other duties as assigned
