Job Description
Milkco, Inc. is a well-established fluid milk processing plant that began operations in 1982. Since its founding, the company has grown from a small facility with 50 employees into a robust operation employing over 250 people today. Milkco specializes in the processing, bottling, and shipping of fluid milk alongside other popular beverages such as juice, tea, and eggnog. Milkco prides itself on maintaining a stable working environment for its employees, offering steady employment without the risk of layoffs. This commitment to workforce stability is a cornerstone of the company’s philosophy and has contributed to its long-term success in the competitive dairy industry.
As a fluid milk plant, Milkco operates sophisticated machinery and production processes to ensure the highest quality products reach consumers safely and efficiently. The company is deeply dedicated to maintaining food safety standards, quality control, and continuous improvement in production techniques. This operational excellence is supported by a skilled team and a corporate culture focused on teamwork, integrity, and respect.
Milkco is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join their dedicated team full-time. Offering a competitive annual salary range of $90,000 to $115,000, this role presents an exciting opportunity for a financial professional looking to make a significant impact in a specialized manufacturing environment. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the company, ensuring that financial records are meticulously maintained and reported accurately according to regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities for the Controller role include managing the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, inventory valuation, cost accounting, and fixed asset management. The Controller will also prepare and present comprehensive financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analyses, providing insightful evaluations for improving profitability and operational efficiency. Furthermore, this role entails performing detailed cost analyses to identify potential savings and optimize production costs—a critical aspect of supporting the company’s ongoing growth and competitive positioning.
Compliance is a vital component of the Controller’s duties, requiring an in-depth understanding of accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements. Implementing and maintaining robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data is another essential responsibility. The Controller will lead a team of accounting professionals, fostering an environment of continuous learning and development through guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Collaboration across departments—including operations, procurement, and sales—is a key element of the position. The Controller will facilitate effective communication and accurate financial recording to support organizational goals and decision-making processes. This role demands someone with strong leadership skills, advanced accounting knowledge, and the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will be motivated, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities independently while contributing to a stable and positive workplace culture at Milkco.
