The role of Director of Safety at Gold Key Construction is critical and strategic, designed to oversee and transform the company’s comprehensive safety program. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Safety will have the unique responsibility of leading the build-out of a mature, auditable, and field-tested safety system that safeguards over 200 field employees across multiple simultaneous jobsites. This role is not just about managing existing safety protocols but requires a thorough and critical assessment of the current foundational documents such as the Health & Safety Program, Substance Abuse Program, and onboarding orientation materials, followed by rebuilding or replacing them as necessary. The Director will ensure the company’s safety standards not only comply with but exceed client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Safety leadership will encompass incident investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective action tracking, OSHA 300 Log compliance, and rigorous training and orientation for new hires and site-specific teams. This role requires extensive coordination with general contractor safety teams, enforcing alignment with site-specific safety plans, and extending safety requirements down to all subcontractors. The Director will also be instrumental in fostering a proactive safety culture that includes stop-work authority, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and a near-miss reporting culture where employees feel safe to report hazards without fear of reprisals.

A key measure of success within the first year includes the full implementation and consistent enforcement of the rebuilt safety program across all projects, successful mobilization of new projects in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Utah with comprehensive safety training and planning from day one, and maintaining strong safety performance indicators such as TRIR and EMR despite rapid workforce scaling. The position comes with significant travel responsibilities—estimated at 40-50% during peak project mobilizations—and may require temporary relocation to active job sites.

The compensation package includes a competitive base salary range of $120,000 to $140,000 commensurate with experience, complemented by an annual performance bonus linked to critical safety metrics and project milestones.
