Job Description
Snowbird is a renowned resort nestled in the heart of the Wasatch Mountain Range, celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and world-class terrain. It stands as a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking both winter and summer adventures. With a strong commitment to excellence, Snowbird is dedicated to providing memorable experiences for its guests while fostering a work environment that attracts passionate, dedicated employees who share a love for the mountains and the outdoors. The resort operates year-round, offering full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions, making it an attractive place for individuals looking for diverse employment opportunities within the hospitality and recreational industry.
The Conference Operations Supervisor role at Snowbird is a full-time, year-round hourly position that plays a crucial part in supporting the resort’s vibrant conference and events business. This dynamic position involves overseeing the daily setup and execution of conferences, meetings, banquets, and special events across various indoor and outdoor venues at the resort. As a frontline leader, the supervisor manages a team of Conference Setup Leads and Crew Members, ensuring that every detail—from the placement of tables and chairs to water services and setup precision—is handled in strict accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), conference operations standards, and Snowbird’s health and safety protocols.
This position demands exceptional leadership skills due to the fast-paced and variable nature of event scheduling, which can involve early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility is key as the supervisor must adapt to frequent changes in event demands, guest requests, and operational needs, often requiring extended hours or last-minute adjustments. The Conference Operations Supervisor is also responsible for managing staffing, scheduling, equipment inventory, and maintenance, as well as coordinating closely with multiple departments such as kitchen staff, banquet teams, and client representatives to ensure seamless event execution and an outstanding guest experience.
Beyond operational management, this role involves administrative duties such as assisting with payroll, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members, as well as overseeing the ordering, inventory, and budgeting of essential supplies like linen. The supervisor is expected to lead by example, fostering a positive work environment while strictly enforcing Snowbird’s policies, procedures, and safety standards. Attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and Word are critical for successfully managing the complexities of event setups and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed accurately.
Overall, the Conference Operations Supervisor serves as a pivotal leader within Snowbird’s conference services department, carrying the responsibility for high-quality event delivery amidst changing and demanding circumstances. The role offers a unique opportunity to engage with a renowned mountain resort, enjoy a variety of perks including ski passes, discounts, insurance benefits, retirement plans, and convenient transportation options, while developing one’s career in hospitality and event operations within an inspiring natural setting.
