The role of Concrete Delivery Truck Driver at Thomas Concrete is vital to the company’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. This position involves operating a truck equipped with an auxiliary concrete mixer to safely transport concrete mix to various job sites. Drivers are responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of concrete, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and providing professional customer service at delivery locations. The position requires adherence to DOT regulations, careful assessment of job site conditions, and proactive communication with customers and team members.

Concrete Delivery Truck Drivers play a key role in maintaining the company’s operational efficiency by performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, managing truck maintenance, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle. Drivers handle the assembly of concrete chutes, control truck unloading functions, and document delivery details such as arrival times and concrete slump. The role demands physical stamina for handling equipment and lifting materials, along with a strong commitment to safety protocols and team collaboration.

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities but involves contributing to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues and supporting plant-wide tasks like maintenance and housekeeping. Ideal candidates will hold a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License and possess a current DOT physical card. The role welcomes those with a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience of one to three months in related fields. With exposure to various physical demands, the role requires individuals who can safely lift heavy materials and work under different weather conditions. Job Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain concrete delivery truck
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials
  • Capacity to work in outdoor environments with exposure to weather and noise
  • Strong attention to safety protocols
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections to ensure delivery safety and compliance with DOT requirements
  • Drive truck under loading hopper to receive materials and start mixer
  • Communicate proactively with delivery colleagues
  • Safely drive truck to customer job sites for unloading
  • Assess customer job site for hazards and safety concerns
  • Represent Thomas Concrete professionally to customers
  • Work with customers to solve on-site issues and report concerns to management
  • Ensure appropriate slump of concrete at job site
  • Handle and assemble concrete chutes
  • Manipulate truck controls to unload concrete
  • Complete delivery tickets with arrival time, pour time, and water added
  • Maintain professional appearance including use of personal protective equipment
  • Keep truck clean, well-maintained, and safe by rinsing chutes, cleaning cab, washing truck, changing tires, fueling, participating in preventative maintenance, completing maintenance requests, and applying chemicals to prevent concrete buildup
  • Fully comply with Thomas Concrete safety standards
  • Assist with plant tasks including maintenance and housekeeping
  • Build team culture by assisting colleagues as needed
