The hospital advocates for a culture centered around its core values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship, making it a respected name in healthcare delivery and community service.

The position open at Avera McKennan Hospital is for a New Graduate NICU Registered Nurse (RN) who is eager to begin their career in a supportive and dynamic neonatal intensive care environment. This is a unique opportunity for new graduate nurses to gain hands-on experience and professional development before they officially graduate. The role involves working 6 or 12 hour shifts during day, evening, weekend, and holiday schedules, providing flexibility to meet both patient care needs and staff wellbeing. The pay range varies between $17.50 and $21.50 per hour, depending on the candidate's experience.

The New Grad NICU RN will be accountable for providing exceptional nursing care to neonates in a critical care setting, working as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to moving health forward. This role requires an individual who can communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, while demonstrating strong clinical skills and a compassionate approach to care. The nurse will be responsible for supporting families during potentially stressful times, ensuring they receive clear information and empathetic support throughout their healthcare journey.

Additionally, the role requires high visibility as a point of contact and resource within the hospital for both patients and community members. Responsibilities include assisting with technology needs, managing room setups, and supporting hospital functions that promote patient satisfaction and service efficiency. The candidate should be ready to engage in continuous learning and contribute to service improvement initiatives by identifying trends and recommending solutions.

Avera McKennan Hospital offers a work environment where employees are encouraged to uphold the organization’s mission and values, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a safe and productive workplace. The hospital complies with all relevant safety and regulatory standards and provides reasonable accommodations to employees with disabilities to ensure equitable employment opportunities. Joining Avera means being part of a health system dedicated to advancing medical excellence and compassionate care for all its patients and staff.
