Job Description

Longhorn Village is a distinguished not-for-profit retirement community located in Austin, Texas, recognized as the Best of Austin in 2022. This Texas-born and bred community offers a Life Care contract that ensures independent living for its residents alongside a comprehensive range of on-site care options including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. The community is currently seeking a dedicated Concierge or Receptionist to join their award-winning team. This full-time role involves serving as the first point of contact for residents, visitors, and staff, handling all incoming communications, as well as providing administrative support to ensure smooth operation within the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong positive attitude towards customer service and possess a genuine interest in geriatric care. They must be able to motivate themselves while maintaining strong relationships with both staff and residents, and work creatively and diligently towards achieving the facility's operational goals. This position requires someone who can handle multiple priorities with professionalism and composure, especially in a dynamic and sometimes high-pressure environment.

As a Concierge or Receptionist at Longhorn Village, you will be responsible for managing incoming phone calls, directing them appropriately, taking and delivering messages, greeting and guiding visitors and residents, and distributing business and inner office mail during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other assigned times. You will maintain various records related to resident information and possess thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and security protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all community members. This position also plays a key role in upholding the hospitality promises of Longhorn Village by delivering exceptional service to residents, families, associates, and vendors.

This role requires close attention to detail and the ability to perform tasks such as assuring medication and transportation keys are securely locked, sorting and delivering mail, updating the community's in-house television channel, monitoring weather conditions relevant to community safety, and maintaining compliance with OSHA safety standards. Candidates must be capable of responding effectively to calls, including those made by individuals with hearing impairments using specialized devices, showcasing adaptability and sensitivity to diverse communication needs. Working collaboratively with other departments to assist with various tasks also forms an important part of the Concierge's daily responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Assures medication and transportation keys are locked up
  • Sorts and delivers mail
  • Responsible for relaying any pertinent information to the evening/weekend Concierge or Executive Assistant
  • Monitors the weather radio and informs management of any weather information that would affect the community
  • Updates the in house television channel
  • Ability to properly answer and handle phone incoming calls to the Community made by services/devices used for the deaf or hard of hearing customers
  • Maintain work area and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards
  • Demonstrates the community hospitality promises towards residents, families, associates and vendors
  • Assists other departments as needed
