Job Description

Hudbay is a leading copper-focused mining company with a strong presence across Canada, Peru, and the United States. Listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker HBM, Hudbay operates three long-life mines and maintains an exceptional pipeline of copper growth projects in tier-one mining-friendly jurisdictions. The company’s flagship operating portfolio includes the Constancia mine in Cusco, Peru; the Snow Lake operations in Manitoba, Canada; and the Copper Mountain mine in British Columbia, Canada. Copper remains the principal metal produced by Hudbay, alongside meaningful gold production, which complements its revenue streams and operational diversity. Hudbay is actively expanding its footprint with key projects like the Copper World project in Arizona, the Mason project in Nevada, the Llaguen project in Peru, and various expansion and exploration opportunities near its existing operations.

At its core, Hudbay embraces a purpose-driven approach focused on caring for its people, communities, and the planet. The company aims to provide the essential metals the world requires while operating sustainably and ethically to transform lives and create better futures for communities where it operates. Its mission revolves around creating sustainable value and robust returns by leveraging excellence in community relations, focused exploration, mine development, and efficient operational strategies.

The Compliance Trainer I role, reporting directly to the Training Superintendent, is a critical position located at Hudbay's Copper World project in Helvetia, Arizona. This is a full-time, regular employment opportunity designed for individuals passionate about fostering a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance in the mining industry. The Compliance Trainer I is primarily responsible for delivering and accurately documenting mandatory health, safety, and regulatory training ensuring that the Copper World project adheres strictly to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations. This role supports Hudbay’s commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and complying with all safety standards through high-quality training programs.

Responsibilities encompass delivering, facilitating, and documenting diverse training programs such as New Miner Training, Annual Refresher courses, New Hire Orientation, and site-specific hazard awareness training. The Compliance Trainer I also leads specialized technical training sessions including Hazardous Energy Isolation (LOTOTO), Working from Heights, Confined Space entry, and other critical safety competencies. In addition, the trainer rigorously maintains compliance training records to ensure audit readiness for MSHA inspections. As a safety leader, the incumbent champions safe practices, contributes to hazard identification exercises, participates in incident investigations, and actively supports safety initiatives and toolbox meetings.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a solid background in mine operations, evidenced by a minimum of five years’ experience and hold MSHA Approved Instructor Certification. The role requires adeptness in adult learning methodologies, strong communication and leadership skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Physical capability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and navigating uneven terrain and varying environmental conditions, is essential. The Compliance Trainer I position provides a rewarding career path for individuals committed to advancing safety culture and compliance within one of North America's premier mining organizations, offering opportunities for skills development, certification training, and contributing meaningfully to Hudson’s mission and values.
