SEPTA is currently seeking a qualified professional to join their team as a Communications Maintainer Specialist at their Wayne Shop facility in Philadelphia. This role is integral to the overall success and efficiency of SEPTA's communication infrastructure. The Communications Maintainer Specialist will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and copper communication cables both aerially and underground, ensuring seamless connectivity across the network. This position requires technical expertise in telecommunications equipment associated with voice, data, fiber optics, and public address systems. The role involves working with conduit, messenger systems, equipment housings, grounding systems, and power cables, alongside splicing and terminating cables with precision.

The successful candidate will engage in aerial work, including climbing wood poles with climbing hooks, steel poles with skates, ladders, and scaffolding. Safety is paramount, and the maintainer specialist will be trained in SEPTA's confined workspace procedures, allowing them to work safely in enclosed environments. This role demands a high level of responsibility for personal safety and compliance with all authority and departmental safety and security policies. As part of the team's commitment to operational safety, employees are expected to promptly report any safety concerns, compromises, or hazards that may impact operations, the public, or fellow employees.

This role is physically demanding, with most work conducted outdoors under various weather conditions, requiring stamina and dedication.
